Butcher Shop - Hard For You
Butcher Shop - Hard For You
Taken from the 3 Track 12" EP on Black Eye Records (BLACKEP1) from 1988. The Butcher Shop featured Tex Perkins with Spencer Jones, Phillip Clifford, Billy Pommer Jnr & Kid Congo Powers (Cramps, Bad Seeds, Gun Club). 'Hard for You' was later re-recorded by The Beasts of Bourbon on the 'Sour Mash' LP. Two years later The Butcher Shop then went onto to release the full length LP "Pump Action" on Black Eye wich featured Tex Perkins with Clifford Phillip (bass) Peter Hartley (drums) & Lachlan McLeod (guitar). Tex has gone onto to say that in retrospect 'Pump Action' was really his debut solo album.

Awesome! I've been trying for years to hear this track. Thanks for putting up this mp3.
cuz,
Have you obtained the Bang! Records reissue of the Butcher Shop discography? It has been released on both vinyl and cd and contains the tracks off the ep.
On the subject of reissues, it would seem that the Lubricated Goat reissue on Fuse/Reverberation will be released next month as a 2 cd set. The Red Eye website has it as a pre-sale. The title is 'Goats and the Men Who Ride Them.'
Have not bought the Butcher Shop Bang CDs yet but already knew about the Goat re-issue as I assisted with some material for the re-issue to Reverberation. I'm really looking forward to that one. It really will be the Year of The Goat again before you know it.
Can you elaborate on the material you assisted with? I contacted Reverberation some months ago when I heard about the reissue on Stu's website. It seemed they were having some trouble tracking down the master for 'Plays the Devils Music.'
I'm also curious about what the Goat reissue will contain. The guy at Reverberation said it was going to contain all the recordings as opposed to Stu's site which stated that only 'Plays' and 'Paddock' would reissued. I am hoping 'Jason's Place' makes it on to the reissue. But I'd be just as happy just to see 'Plays' finally out on cd.
Man, the Year of the Goat
As they were having issues with trying to locate the masters they had to get the tracks from another source. I owned copies of the Normal Issued 'Paddock of Love' & 'Schadenfreude' so I provided them back ups to remaster from. I heard word that Shane Browne (Lubricated Goat archivist) was also providing some material from his archives for the artwork. That's all I know so far. I'm looking forward to it also.
Hey Cousin Creep,
I just ran across this post... seems like a bit of time has passed, any movement on this reissue? I'll assume it hasn't come out as of March 2009?
If you mean the Butcher Shop then yes
