At Last, 'In The Raw' sees the light of day. Screening at the 19th MEREDITH MUSIC FESTIVAL 2009 ECOPLEX CINEMA.
Screening on Friday 11th December, 10pm. Outlands Ecoplex cinema.
In November 1988 Andrew Denton's BLAH BLAH BLAH program caused a nationwide stir by allowing guitar group LUBRICATED GOAT to perform on ABCTV completely naked. The resulting media frenzy jammed talk back lines as the public hotly debated this apparent decline in Australian media standards.
IN THE RAW dispels the myths which have arisen as a result of Lubricated Goat's nude appearance by exposing the politics, the censorship, and the nudity of this event through extensive interviews with the members of Lubricated Goat, with ABC Management and the Blah Blah Blah Production team.

With ABC TV owning the rights to a lot of the archival footage, they need to be cleared. My producer was able to get a 'One Off' licence for the MMF screening. In terms of DVD sales, it also involves getting it cleared through ABC TV. Which won't be for quite some time.
Why don,t you try to get the ABC to air it.

Fair enough.Shame really.You would think with Labour in power and not the Liberals you would have more luck getting it on air with the ABC.It is dissapointing that the public broadcaster wouldn't be more open minded.
There was a certain person from a certain broadcaster that said during a speech at an industry event, their Network was looking more 'Edgy' material for their content... But this person ran a mile from 'Raw' after they viewed it. I don't think it has anything to do with which party is in power, it depends a lot on who has the job at any Government broadcaster at the time. I don't recall the ABC towing the line for John Howard, in fact Little Johnny Jewel was regularly moaning about the Anti-Lib bias at the ABC.
What I meant to say was more about the budget cuts regarding the Liberals, than unbiased programming.I don't know if this is out of line ,but if you happen to have a spare copy of said doco ,I wouldn't mind slinging some cash your way for a copy,for personal viewing only.I will send you my email address if this is cool.I would of loved to have seen the other doco you were working on to ,about Black Eye,Aberrant scene.I am a little bit after the scene but I love everything that came out those times.I just got myself a copy of the Bushpig lp and Bloodloss the truth is marching in on vinyl, the thing had never been played before,it was like opening up a brand new pressing.
